From the recording THIS IS A RECORDING
This is a song that I wrote for my father before he passed away just before Covid hit Australia. He always told me you have to do what you have to do, hence the name Grass is Greener. In his prime, he was a firm, yet fair man who loved AFL and a good laugh. Singing this song at his funeral was one of the hardest performances I've done. Vale DJ, RIP.
Lyrics
Grass Is Greener
Leaving, on a midnight flight,
Bound for the stars tonight,
Mission, to find new life,
Leaving my child and wife....
By The Time I'm Home, You'll Be Long Gone...
And I'll Be Siling, To The Stories Told...
Leaving, on a southern train,
Bound for a city, that's not even named,
Goodbye, to the big city trees,
Goodbye to the summer breeze,
By The Time I'm Home, You'll Be Long Gone...
And I'll Be Siling, To The Stories Told...
Give me, a little peace of mind,
That everything back home will be just fine,
Sit on by the Murray trees,
Singing with my brothers three.
By The Time I'm Home, You'll Be Long Gone...
And I'll Be Smiling, To The Stories Told...
And I'll Be Siling, To The Stories Told...
And I'll Be Siling, To The Stories Told...
And I'll Be Siling, To The Stories Told...
